In a recent announcement, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) welcomed Azerbaijan's initiatives to enhance bilateral relations, focusing particularly on cooperation in law and mediation.

This statement came during a meeting with a delegation from the Turkic World Mediators Union, including representatives from Azerbaijan's Mediation Council.

Strengthening Ties with Azerbaijan

Özdemir Berova, the Minister of Finance of TRNC, praised the establishment of a working group by Azerbaijan's Milli Majlis to foster inter-parliamentary relations with the TRNC. Berova emphasized the spirit of unity between the two regions, stating, “We adhere to the spirit of ‘One nation, three states’.” This collaboration underscores the commitment to strengthening diplomatic and economic ties between the Turkish states.

Establishing the Rauf Denktash International Mediation Institute

A significant highlight of the meeting was the support for establishing the Rauf Denktash International Mediation Institute, named after the founder and first President of the TRNC. The initiative aims to promote unified judicial standards across the Turkic world through enhanced cooperation among lawyers and mediators from Turkish states.

High-Level Meetings and Discussions

During their visit to Lefkoşa, the delegation from the Turkic World Mediators Union met with several high-ranking officials, including Okan Donangil, advisor to the President of the Republic of Macedonia, Bertan Özerdag, Chairman of the Supreme Court, and Sarper Altınok, Chief Prosecutor. Discussions also included Ilkan Varol, Commissioner for Human Rights of the TRNC, further solidifying the commitment to strengthening legal and mediation frameworks.

TCE Conclusion

This collaboration not only enhances diplomatic relations but also fosters a stronger legal and mediation framework, promoting peace and stability in the region. As the TRNC continues to advocate for international recognition and support, such initiatives highlight the importance of solidarity and cooperation in achieving lasting peace and development.
